Heather is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor in the state of Texas with more than 17 years of experience working in various behavioral health settings in the mental health field. In 2017 Heather earned the GLOBE YOUTH Fellowship that focused on a higher standard of mental health education to assist teens and young adults.
Heather is a Gottman Level One and Two trained clinician who works with couples, adults, and teens utilizing modalities of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Heather will curate your treatment plan to fit your needs and goals.
Many people come to Heather’s sessions looking for a space to learn to navigate presenting issues such as automatic negative thoughts (ANTs), traumatic flashbacks, physical/sexual abuse, suicidal ideation, self-harming behaviors, disordered eating, poor boundaries, and poor communication skills. Heather helps you learn to love life again or for the first time ever with Heather’s trauma informed care approach and core competencies in positive psychology. Individual counseling sessions provide people with tools to help them navigate anxiety, depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD and Eating Disorders. Heather would like for someone to walk out of a session feeling confident and empowered to advocate for themselves and their loved ones.
In couples counseling, clients learn to communicate with their partner and move toward shared and personal goals with the support of one another. Couples will gain knowledge regarding Gottman Theory, assertive communication techniques, and how to be compassionate with one another again. Heather has experience working with couples presenting with infidelity, narcissistic tendencies, unresolved conflict and sexual issues.
Finding it hard to speak up for yourself? Negative thoughts weigh you down? Poor choices making it difficult to move forward? You are human and so are all the other people around you. Heather will help you navigate anxious negative thoughts and interpersonal relationships you worry about at night and help you break free of the anxious loop with boundaries, assertiveness skills, mindfulness skills and other tools founded in evidence-based practices.
